In India there are various Professional Associations are providing professional services and training to Nurses under various Specialities
1.Trained Nurses Association of India
The Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) is a national organization of nurse professionals at different levels. It was established in 1908 and was initially known as Association of Nursing Superintendents.
The Government of India has recognized TNAI as a service organization in 1950. A similar recognition by all the State Governments has been an asset to the promotion of its objectives.

2. Association of Nurse Executives India
Association of Nurse Executives (India) derives its strength from its chapters and its members. ANEI through its chapter heads strives to make the collective voice of nurses stronger by increasing the members.
Mission
To work with all stakeholders in establishing a national system for improving the nursing scenario across India thereby impacting patient safety and clinical outcomes in all settings of healthcare.
Vision
Our vision is to provide leadership, professional development, and research to advance nursing practice, nursing education and patient care while contributing effectively towards India’s health goals.
3. All India Registered Nurses Federation
AIRNF is an organization that aims to provide a dynamic platform for all registered nursing personnel in India. Its primary goals include providing economic, social, political, legal, and cultural support to registered nurses, registered midwives, community health officers or community health nurses, auxiliary nurse midwives, and nursing students. The federation aims to raise awareness and address the challenges faced by the nursing profession, as well as establish support systems and ventures for skill development and mental health support.
4.Nursing Research Society of India:
It was in 1985 when Ms. Uma Handa Founder Secretary and initiator of Nursing Research Society of India was invited by perinatology Association of India to present a research paper on temperature regulation of newborn babies from 0-3 hours in Mumbai. Inspired by the decision of perinatology association to send the recommendations of the research study conducted by Ms. Uma Handa to all the maternity homes in India for implementation, she thought of initiating a professional body for the promotion of nursing research in India.
5.Society of Midwives-India (SOMI)
Society of Midwives – India (SOMI), established in the year 2000, is a 10 yr old, registered organization with a mission to strengthen midwifery, enable midwives and achieve safe motherhood.
SOMI advocates for a maternity care that is ‘Safe, Skilled and Sensitive’ to women.
6.Indian Association of Neonatal Nurses (IANN)
The Indian Association of Neonatal Nurses is a registered society majorly for Nurses and Nurse Educators working for newborn /teaching neonatal nursing at all levels of health care. The Neonatologist, Obstetricians and Community health specialists can also become life time members of the association.
IANN was founded by 23 nurses and nursing faculty during the International Neonatal Conference held at Ashoka Hotel from 15th to 18th September 2007. In the same year, it was registered at New Delhi as a professional body. As on 13/9/19 the association has 1375 life time members from all over the nation. The association helps the nurses to update their knowledge and skills, and collaborate with leaders and other peer members.
One of the major activities undertaken by IANN since its inception is to every year organize continuing nursing education programs by holding Pre-conference.
7.Society of Community Health Nurses of India (SOCHNI)
SOCHNI was registered in 2008. (Reg.No.) SOR/BLU/DR/1160/2008-09, SOCHNI was started with a call to serve its individual members in enabling and empowering them to serve the community at large and to protect the professional interests of the Community Health Nurses.
The challenges and exciting opportunities have emerged for Community Health Nursing in the twenty-first century with the community becoming the focal point for health care. Community Health Nurse is in a unique position to provide leadership in evolving managed care and integrated health system.
The knowledge and skill to assist the client in moving across the health care continuum have been obtained from the past. But the health system has changed rapidly in the past cannot be the only indicator for providing direction in practice – circumstances are new and accordingly we (SOCHNI) must think anew and act anew.
8.Indian Society of Psychiatric Nurses
ISPN is a registered society of Mental Health Nursing and Allied Health Professionals registered under Societies Act. This society is meant for the Professional/ Scientific Development in the field Mental Health Nursing.
9.Oncology Nurses Association of India
It was a long desired dream of the Oncology Nurses working in Tata memorial Hospital to form as association. The aim was to bring all oncology concerned nurses under one roof to update Oncology Nursing.
Ms. A.K.Bhargavi, the then nursing superintendent along with few nurses originated the association. 1st November 1994 during the UICC conference held at New Delhi, it was inaugurated. The first release of quarterly newsletter “Oncology Nursing News Letter” was done by the then Executive Secretary of Oncology Nursing society (ONS) Ms. Pearl Moore.
From then on many activities are undertaken by the association to update the standards of oncology nurses.
10.The Nursing Teachers Association
To promote the advancement of all aspect of nursing profession, to make arrangement of conference/ symposium/ seminar/ workshop at State, National and international level and to promote for the continuing professional development of nursing teachers.
To promote charitable, cultural, spiritual educational, and any other activity such as health camp, blood donation camp. Raise funds by contributions, subscriptions, levies, donations, investments and otherwise for the attainment of the above objectives.
Notwithstanding the financial activities specified above, The Nursing Teacher association shall be a Non-profit making organisation.
11.United Nurses Association (UNA)
UNA is a professional association of registered nurses in India. It was started in Kerala. The organisation discusses problems faced by nurses in their working environment. Kerala nurses first joined at Thrissur district. The first meeting was about the increased threat of seizing the assets of nursing students who had taken educational loans. Then, Beena Baby, a Malayalee nurse, committed suicide while working at a hospital in Mumbai due to staff bullying, illegal management practices and bond issues. The so-called “bond system” executed by the Mumbai based hospital was an indirect violation of the Bonded Labor System (Abolition) Act, 1976. Ms Baby’s death triggered a public outcry, leading to the formation of “UNA”,along with many other nurse associations.
United Nurses Association was created by Jasminsha and six other working nurses of Thrissur on 16 November 2011. UNA gained awareness among nurses and society through social media.
12.Clinical Nursing Research Society (CNRS)
The Overall purpose of this society is to encourage and improve the quality of Clinical Research in Nursing to generate evidence and its application in clinical practice and education at par with Global Nursing standards. The head office of this society is at Saroj Lalji Mehrotra Global Nursing College, Talhati, Abu Road (A unit of Global Hospital and Research Centre, Mount Abu), Rajasthan, 307510, India
13.Glorious International Nursing Research and Academic (GINRA)
Glorious International Nursing Research and Academic (GINRA) Foundation ® is one of the international, non-profitable professional body, registered under the ministry of corporate affairs, Government of India under section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. GINRA Foundation as a paramount body which acts to bring revolution and sustainable development in the field of Nursing.
A team of Eminent Teachers, Educationist, and Philanthropists have collectively established GINRA Foundation in 2021 with the aim to promote the Nursing research and academically support the Nursing fraternity by collaborating with the eminent professionals globally. Foundation also provides a platform for the professional leaders, universities, organisations and associations to connect each other with a mission to develop the profession. GINRA foundation also engage in various social service activities towards the community development.
14.Society of Indian Neuroscience Nurses (SINN)
The Society of Indian Neuroscience Nurses (SINN) is the first professional organisation for specialised Indian neuronurses dedicated to the development and promotion of neuroscience nursing in India.
Train and empower neuroscience nurses to be recognized as the essential member in the health care team to cater to the needs of the public.
The society of Indian neuroscience nurses serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and expertise among nurses who work in neurology and neurosurgery speciality to influence and advance their education and practice to improve the health of the people and to connect our members to each other and to our collective passion, power and purpose.
