Pediatric eye care is essential for ensuring healthy vision development and early detection of conditions that could impact learning, development, and quality of life.
A Paediatric ophthalmologist, diagnoses, prevents, and treats diseases that affect children’s eyes and vision. Good eye care is essential during childhood as many visual problems develop while the eyes are growing and may affect the child’s future development.
Indications
- Infection
- Immune suppression
- Congenital abnormalities
- Postoperative surgical requirement

- Amblyopia (lazy eye)
- Strabismus (misaligned eyes)
- Refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism)
- Congenital cataracts or glaucoma
- Retinopathy of prematurity (in preterm infants)
